The Machine

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" -Mario Savio
To save face / how low can you go
Talk a lot of game but yet you don't know
Static on the way / make us all say whoa
The people up top push the people down low
Get down
And obey every word
Steady getting mine if you haven't yet heard
Wanna take what I got
Don't be absurd
Don't fight the power
Nobody gets hurt
If you haven't heard yet then I'm letting you know
There ain't shit we don't run when the guns unload
And no one make a move unless my people say so
Got everything outta control
Now everybody go
Steel unload / final blow
We the animals / take control
Hear us now / clear and true
Wretches and kings we come for you
So keep pace / how slow can you go
Talk a lot of shit and yet you don't know
Fire on the way / make you all say whoa
The people up top and the people down low
Get down
And I'm running it like that
The front of the attack is exactly where I'm at
Somewhere in between
The kick and the hi hat
The pen and the contract
The pitch and the contact
So get with the combat / I'm letting 'em know
There ain't shit you can say to make me back down no
So / push the button let the whole thing blow
Spinning everything outta control
Now everybody go
Steel unload / final blow
We the animals / take control
Hear us now / clear and true
Wretches and kings we come for you
Steel unload / fire blow
Filthy animals / beat them low
Skin and bone / black and blue
No more this sun shall beat onto you
From the front to the back and the side to side
If you fear what I feel put 'em up real high...

Spider kisses.

Faith

 - by Faty

I love God more than anything else in this world. If I were asked to do something that God forbid me to do, you can punch me, stab me, shoot me, torture me, fuckin kill me - I won't do it.

I may have lost all faith in life, but I haven't lost my faith in God.

The Greater Jihad

Here's an article I got from SuhaibWebb. It's written by Hanaa Hamad. I edited a little of the format, but the content is conserved. Just scroll through if you don't wanna read it all... But it's a good read.

Forgiveness and Tolerance in Islam

"It never ceases to amaze me that Allah can inspire so much fear in our hearts when we reflect on His supremacy, yet his mercy is equally as vast as His dominion. Allah tells us in a Hadith Qudsi : “O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you.” (Al-Tirmidhi). Subhan’Allah (Glory be to God) there is no limit to Allah’s forgiveness, even though our mistakes are numerous.

But what’s disheartening is how seldom we are able to forgive each other and how often we are impetuously intolerant toward one another. Islam teaches us that the strongest of servants are those who not only have the strength to suppress their anger when they are tested but also possess an immeasurable capacity to forgive. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that: “Whoever suffers an injury and forgives (the person responsible), God will raise his status to a higher degree and remove one of his sins.” (Al-Tirmidhi). If we can sincerely forgive those who anger us, inwardly and outwardly, then that cleanses our souls from the shaytan (satan) and his negative energy. It is important to disregard vain criticisms and this is the first step toward being tolerant.

Of course, this is not done without difficulty because it is hard to understand why those who have caused us grievances wanted to do so in the first place. But this is where the battle with our inner self can take a positive turn and allow us to elevate our iman (faith). This inner struggle is what the Prophet {pbuh) called “The Greater Jihad” because it involves tolerance and fighting the evil within ourselves in order to purify our hearts. This is always done for the sake of Allah and to purify our spiritual conditions.

Islam also teaches us that the best kind of forgiveness is answering the oppression of others with kindness. The Prophet (pbuh) inspired us with this practice when he said to his followers: “God had ordered me to maintain ties with those who sever ties with me, and to give to those who deprive me, and to forgive those who oppress me.”

The Prophet (pbuh) and his companions were so merciful in their conduct that instead of becoming angry with their offenders, they defended them and gave them gifts. What immeasurable acts of compassion. They went beyond human altruism and practiced unmatched generosity. They demonstrated that when we open our hearts and pardon others, we are granting ourselves an inner peace. This is how we can prevent spite from suffocating our hearts, which is crucial because hatred has the ability to make us internally ill. We think that hatred is a means of revenge against those who have harmed us, but by begrudging them we are only harming ourselves. This is because our enemies will never feel our anger, and they live contently as we suffer. When we forgive others, it brings relief to our souls because it is a kind of liberating release. This is because when someone has upset us, they have a power over us because we allowed them to do so.

Life is short. Let us not waste our energy on being angry at our enemies and seeking revenge against them. If we can progressively minimize our spite every day, then soon we will bear no hatred or malice in our hearts, insha’Allah (God willing). This is how we can end conflict amongst ourselves, since it is a day to day issue we face. After all, sometimes our own actions can provoke another person’s wrong doings and we may not be aware of how we contributed to the conflict. We tend to judge the faults of others, while being blind to our own. We forget how we have wronged others, and we only remember how others have wronged us. In the same manner, we forget the good things that others have done for us, and remember only the good that we have done for them. It is an innate human error.

But let us try to remember our own shortcomings before we reflect on the shortcomings of others. Let us stop victimizing ourselves and think about how we have victimized others, and then seek their forgiveness. And if they ask our forgiveness, let us always grant it to them. Because the Prophet (pbuh) taught us that: “Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.” (Al-Bukhari). And we must keep in mind that however we treat others is how Allah will treat us.

So insha’Allah when someone hurts us, let us try to meet their oppression with kindness and forgive them, even if they are not sorry."

Spider.kisses-

P.S. What do maple leaves and sakura blossoms have to do with forgiveness and tolerance and the greater jihad? No frikin idea. While you figure it out, enjoy this -cough-delicious-cough- picture.

Pubblicita'! And Happy Birthday! *__*

Which means "publicity" in Italian, duhh. Or advertisement.

I'd like to advertise a couple of things. first of all, Freerice. I've blogged about this already: I'm blogging again cuz I find it a very useful site if you wanna get smarter and at the same time feed the hungry! I mean, me for example: gotta study for my A levels and SAT's, so this is more than a great site to improve my vocab skills and others! Not to mention I donate 10 grains of rice for each right answer xD

Secondly, BBCX365. I found this on Mike Shinoda's Blog (which reminds me, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MS!). In his words it is: ‎"Artist Johnny Selman designs a poster every day to inform the American public about world news. He bases his posters on the headlines of the BBC (hence the name of his site), and hopes to help encourage the connection between the average American and the news of the rest of the world."

I think it's pretty smart! In addition to that I found some blog entries which made me feel really sick to my stomach... And by that I mean, it really got
me thinking and wanting to research more... Anyway, please subscribe!

What other stuff should I advertise? Hmm...

Nothing else, wouldn't wanna bore you.

Lastly, I'd just like to say, as a b-day thingy to Mike Shinoda... Mike, you inspire me. If I were asked to write the names of the people who inspire me the most, you'd be the 3rd, right after my mom! What can I say about you? You can sing, rap, draw, paint, do computer-graphics, save the environment, critique politics, contribute your amazing ideas to a lot of different social activities, give scholarships, and a lot more... and you do it with creativity and style!!! What's not to like about you?! I simply love you. Whenever I do something that I know can benefit a lot of people, be it picking up my Chemistry notebook or participating in social welfare programs, I always do so thinking of you - no kidding! You INSPIRE me. I know you won't be reading this, but since I'm not the only one who feels like this, you probably can feel it already! I just can't wait for the day where I will get to meet you. :)

Ah, wait, I forgot I posted smthing like this on your blog somewhere... :P Yah well point is, you contributed to the person who i am today and will be tomorrow :)

Hmm that was heart-felt. DRAMAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm feeling a little disappointed today. But who cares.

BY BY------------- AND HAPPY BDAY TO EVERYONE.

B r E a K !

Ello! Fary 'ere!

I just wanna say that you are a

Aaaah! I feel good now! And you should too!
btw-i didn't get that pic from the internet. mwihihhihhih! i <3 Pokemon!

Le hihi! Bye Bye!

Consider yourself spider kissed! With this invisi-spider!

Oh yay

Now I can post using my own Google account! Should've thought of this earlier :P Well actually I did but was too lazy to put it into action...

Anyway, Faty here. I've been feeling so down these days. But then a certain person surprised me by telling me they cared. Maybe a bit too much, but who cares! Uhh wait I care... CARE... Ughh I should stop using this word!

Anyway, my AS exams start in May and I'm busy studying x_x I just can't wait for this highschool period of my life to end and my university life start! I'm gonna study biochemistry and be a research biochemist! xP But I need to prepare myself...

So you got any ideas on how exactly I'm gonna do that? I'm gonna take AS, A2, SAT 1, SAT 2, and TOEFL soon. So I'm gonna start (restart actually) reading books and look up words. I got my "SAT Question of the Day" today and I don't get a word! Here it is:

"Choose the word or set of words that, when inserted in the sentence, best fits the meaning of the sentence as a whole.

With the 1969 film The Learning Tree, Gordon Parks proved what a truly ------- artist he was: he not only directed the film and composed its musical score, but also adapted its screenplay from his own novel.
A.  click to choose answer A   complacent
B.  click to choose answer B   protean
C.  click to choose answer C   lauded
D.  click to choose answer D   clairvoyant
E.  click to choose answer E   harried"
... Like, WTF? I don't know what ANY of those words mean!

And... what else? I thought about reading the Student BMJ regularly. Any other journal/blog/articles website that an avid biochemistry fan should read? Or an interesting one that I could read to pass my time and improve my vocab? Not to boast, but I'm awesome at English. But there's always room for improvement.

Maybe you could give me some topics on which I should write an essay on. What are other ways I could "prepare" myself?

Ahhh that''s about it.

A couple of other things that have happened recently - I just started using iGoogle! It's fun, you can customize your home page and everything! Like, for me, I always wanna see the news first thing when I open the Internet browser. So I got the news bar on the very top! And music of course =w= talking bout music, my iGoogle theme is Mike Shinoda's Glorious Excess! Talking about themes (and music), I just applied the "K-ON!" theme to my Google Chrome! It's so cute! Ahhh

ummmmmmm thats about it for tonight.

Wish me luck on my exams and pray like hell for me.

Buh bye, arachno-kisshes

P.S. I will love you. I will love you especially when you least deserve it.

Habtankal

Good Day! Fary here. If you're wondering what the title means, don't bother going to Google Translator, 'cause it doesn't mean anything. It's gibberish and expresses my feelings! Very artistic.

Anyway, this song speaks for it's self (if that makes sense):

"It's just another day,
And it feels like you're still running late
'Cause the times are gonna change,
And you're stuck in your old mentality

You can try to lead us on,
But there's no one else to blame
Won't be left to clean the
mess when you're gone

(We're running out of time!)

[Chorus]
We're running out of time,
And you just don't get it
Now you're watching people die,
And you still don't care
We're running out of time,
And you just don't get that
this is how I feel
There's a million things I hate about you

It's just another battle,
When you exercise your authority
When the dust is finally settled,
Will you catch up with reality?

You've been waiting way too long
Now it's time for us to pay,
And we won't be looking back when you're gone

(We're running out of time!)

[Chorus]
We're running out of time,
And you just don't get it
Now you're watching people die,
And you still don't care
We're running out of time,
And you just don't get that
this is how I feel
There's a million things I hate
about you (about you)

About you
About you (about you) About you

I don't wanna hear the same
excuses (don't wanna hear)
I don't wanna here the same
excuses (don't wanna hear)
I don't wanna hear your story

We're running out of time,
And you just don't get it
You're watching people die,
And you still don't care
We're running out of time,
And you just don't get it
If everybody dies,
Will you still don't care?

We're running out of time,
And you just don't get it
Now you're watching people die,
And you still don't care
We're running out of time,
And you just don't get that
this is how I feel
I don't wanna think about...
This is how I feel

There's a million things I hate about you
There's a million things I hate about you"

Lotifatishka!

Le Ishpaidar Kish! Without a spider...(i am such a rebel)

What are molecular fragments?

I have no idea, dammit. I'm trying to study like hell, cuz my AS exas start on 10th May, and I dunno SHIT.

Well, getting good grades is now my priority... but somehow I've managed to make bigger worries which I can't do much about.

There was one thing that coud've gone right and ensured a safe future for my family, but because of the greed and atrocity committed by others, it went delayed and finally wrong. It was partly my dad's fault for being so damn lazy, but I digress.

The recent global issues, particularly those connected to economy, made our life go berserk. There are people who have it worse than me, but I'm not thinking about ME - I'm thinking about my family! My little brothers... I don't care what happens to me, I want my brothers to be safe and secure, I want the best for them. It's just not working out... When it comes to them, I can;t compare the situation with others, at all. My ego is not involved here, my love is.

And finally, I want the best for my friends. I feel like I've lost them all. I wish it wasn't so...

With so much running through my head, is there any place left in my heart to grieve about myself? I try not to think about anything that makes me feel even a little bit self-centered or selfish. And if I feel like crying for myself, I cry, but I don;t ask myself why, therefore I don;t lead myself to conclusions or solutions.

I simply don't have the time or the right reason or concentration to think about myself. What happens happens, all I can do now is pray to God.

"When you were standing in the wake of devastation
When you were waiting on the edge of the unknown
With the cataclysm raining down
Your insides crying, "Save me now"
You were there, impossibly alone.

[...]

And in a burst of light that blinded every angel
As if the sky had blown the heavens into stars
You felt the gravity of tempered grace
Falling into empty space
With no one there to catch you in their arms.

Do you feel cold and lost in desperation?
You build up hope, but failures all you've known.
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go.
Let it go."

p.s. It's Faty.

Project Mita - Conclusion!

"After two months of careful planning and preparation and one and a half months of hard work, we have finally come to the successful completion of Project Mita! Commenced by the Physically-challenged Development Foundation's (PDF's) English Medium Branch, the Project was made effective by 116 volunteers carrying out 15 projects, organizing 13 events, influencing the lives of 1500 deprived people and being the cause of 1000 giant smiles on the faces of the under-privileged children who were the main protagonists of it all!

Working amongst all these different characters was simply magical. We were able to bring so many young people into working for the betterment of our countrymen's lives. So many more high- and middle-class people are now appreciative of and caring for the Physically-Challenged and the destitutes, thanks to our awareness campaigns. We were able to observe the lives of these people with more depth: it was an eye-opening experience to see first-hand their living conditions and wonder how this can be enough for them to live. This project was truly of a different kind, as it treated these disadvantaged people as our own brothers and sisters. We are proud to say that this time around they did not receive used clothes form our refuse collection, rather new and branded clothes and blankets, as real presents. Last, but not least, we ourselves were affected by this project: we are now more inclined to improve ourselves as people.

We were given nothing in return, except that warm feeling in our hearts telling us that we just made a significant difference. We can now close our eyes at night with the thought of all the people whose lives we lightened with a small but meaningful spec of happiness. All those "Mita's" that we supported and gave hope to. All those children we helped and made aware of the fact that there are a lot of people out there who don't think of them as trash, but really care for them and want them to be part of the new generation. And, of course, all the people whose idea we have changed about those in need, and convinced them to actually want to go out there and contribute, instead of playing the part of silent spectators.

Charity is not simply the knowledge of people being poor, the disposal of your used objects to them and giving your change to a begger in the street. Rather, it is the acceptance and love for the people who have it worse than you in so many ways, the belief that they should not be treated as inferiors, and the will to race out of the house to help them in any way you can. Lastly, true philantrophy is believing that all this altruistic work you are doing is for the bright future of the population as a whole, and always figuring out creative new ways to make the world a better place for everyone."

special spider-kisses, spread the love around!!!

ProcraSTINATING

Why did I write "stinating" in caps? No idea, I just pushed the button by mistake.

I've been trying to start revising chemistry for the last 36 hours, but every time I think "Let's fuck this biatch!" I get distracted by TV, coca cola, facebook, other academic worries, wonderland, cats, food, my husband, TV.

Darn it! And I feel even lazier since it's my month! UGHHHH

And I also got distracted by spider.kiss... you know WHAT, I'm gonna move my freakin ass RIGHT NOW and HOP TO IT!

... Not literally though, unless I want a leak. UGHHHH

NO spiderkisses for you!

P.S. I've been typing "P.S." and erasing it like, 5 times, I dunno what to post scriptum about! xP

Lost.

I wanted to write something simple but clever, but I got nothing. So I shall freestyle.

My life is like Narnia! If you have read the Chronicle of Narnia, there is a part in the last book, I think, where Lucy (or someone) complains about how chaotic things are always in Narnia. But then Aslan (or whatever) replies that no, you see them as chaotic because you humans do not come here when things are peaceful, but when they are in turmoil. Now, how come the arrival of the humans causes troubles to Narnia?

It's actually the other way round. Humans are purposefully brought to Narnia when they are need, i.e. in the times of war. They are not a curse, they're a gift, the promoters of peace. In these conditions, 95% of the time the poor humans battle to bring peace: only 5% of the time do they spend in celebration.

Sometimes, just when I feel like everything's finally fine, something happens.

It just happens, and I can't stop it. Now that I think of it from the perspective of Aslan and the Narnian humans (lol), I'm guessing they happen because God wants me to solve them, to make my way through them. But hey, don't I deserve some longer periods of peace every now and then?! I will. When my task is fully complete, I will have what I deserve--- if I still deserve it.

Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and those other guys ended up fine. I wanna be like them. I don't wanna end up betraying like Susan; lost in time, lost in her own world, lost.

I believe, I'll be right where I have to be.

Randomness is the new way to save the world

And I stand by this saying.

Because everything initiates from nothing. How can one initiate something from nothing? Via randomness.

Anyway, what I wanted to discuss in this entry are some things that I have discovered and done recently.

Discovery--- Freerice! It's a website (click on it) where you get to play a game where they ask you a question at a time. For every right answer, you (they) will donate 10 grains of rice to the hungry! How do they do that? Through WFP, World Food Programme. They collect revenue from the advertisers (whose names you can see at the bottom of the vocab screen), and with that they pay for the rice. Don't worry, the money really does reach the people! The questions are about a variety of subjects (of your choice), therefore they have the drawback of making you smarter... xD ...

Play Freerice and feed the hungry

Here's some intel:
  • The website went live on October 7, 2007 with 830 grains of rice donated on its first day.
  • Its first contribution was in Bangladesh, where it fed 27,000 refugees from Myanmar for two weeks.
  • Over 86 billion grains of rice have been donated til now! That is enough to feed more than 4.3 million people for one day!
  • 51,851,660 grains of rice donated yesterday! :D
  • In countries where rice is a stable part of the diet, World Food Programme provides, on average about 400 grams of rice per person, per day (for families, including children and adults). That is intended for two meals that include other ingredients to ensure a minimum of 2,100 kilocalories per day. There are about 48 grains of rice in a gram. :P (Just in case you were wondering!)
Since this entry is not a wiki of it, if you want to know more than either google it but better yet, visit the site and start playing!

This is better than homework!

"...The anxiety children feel at constantly being tested, their fear of failure, punishment, and disgrace, severely reduces their ability both to perceive and to remember, and drives them away from the material being studied into strategies for fooling teachers into thinking they know what they really don't know."

Because I'm anti- excess homework! We are learning too much nowadays, we're not learning at all!

... Sorry, I went from donating =rice to hating all-factual and objective ways of education... where was I?

Oh yeah. Free rice. Play. Get involved. Etikke... Umm, etc. xDD

Anyways... I wanted to talk about something else too but I'm too tired. I'll do it tomorrow.

... Wow! This way of making new incentives to blog later... I'm not procrastinating, not this time! OHH YESS

I feel so good. Haven't felt like this in a long time...

... Make me feel like this once more.

<3 Love yall.

who.the.arachnid?

P.S. Last night I was so sedated I don't have any memory of what happened. I posted something on Facebook and I sounded sooooo weird! That's what they call paradoxical disinhhibition... cool! xD
